Hey, I’m Rebecca Hay

I’m Small town born and big city raised,

Basically, I moved a Lot as a child, living in 5 different homes before the age of 12! The good news, I got to continually re-imagine my own bedroom every time. I was lucky to also have a famous designer in the family, my mom’s cousin Robert Dirstein who along with my own mother inspired me in so many ways. Our house was always the most inviting and warm place, full of family and friends. If you want your home to be the most inviting one on the block, you’ve come to the right gal.

My experience spans over a decade.

After graduating from McGill University (and eating way too much poutine) I still had no idea what I wanted to do with my life! So I did what any 20-something would do and I moved to Spain where I taught ESL for nearly 2 years… speaking Spanish and eating too many Tapas!! I made my way back to Canada, Spanish boyfriend in tow (that’s a story for another time) and enrolled in design school. My first “big break” lasted 5 years and I had the privilege to work under the mentorship of one of Toronto’s top luxury residential designers. I learned a lot about working with trades & clients. More than school ever taught me. And now I’m almost 10 years into running my own design business with the same great partners and philosophies. I worked in the fast-paced world of HGTV….

Just before I got the courage to branch out on my own, I briefly worked in the engaging and fast-paced world of television, as a designer on HGTV shows such as “Income Property”, & “The Property Brothers”. I learned a lot about budgeting and the power of a good Reveal. If you want a design team who can stay on time & on budget. My team and I have this nailed down.

My design aesthetic is approachable and classic.

If the room isn’t inviting, is it even well-done?

I love nothing more than a good full decor and design project. It’s my passion to decorate to the last detail using quality fabrics, custom Canadian furnishings & hierloom pieces. My goal is always to take a house and turn it into a home.

I’m also an international speaker, podcast host & business coach.

In addition to growing and managing my interior design firm, my mission is to educate fellow design firm owners to build confidence and professionalism in their business through my top-rated industry podcast Resilient by Design, and online courses & community.

Over the years, Elle Decor, Architectural Digest and Better Homes and Gardens have spread the word about the impact I’m having on the design community.
